A group of executives from a multinational firm paid 1200 pounds (1,360 euros) for a taxi from the town of Northampton, in southern England to the Swiss city of Geneva. Like many thousands of people, the executives had their flights cancelled yesterday because of the closure of British airspace by the volcanic ash cloud, but pulled his wallet and got to his destination in thirteen hours. The Amber Cars Taxi company had never been so well paid and accepted an assignment to cover the 1,120 miles between two cities, after crossing the Channel. Also in Barcelona, people trapped in the airport hired taxi trips to Stockholm, London or closer to Narbonne.
