The City Bridge Trust, whose sole trustee is the City of LondonCorporation, has awarded Parkside Community Project in Southfields£15,000. But Members of the Committee were so impressed with thehistory of how much the organisation does with very little fundsthat it was chosen for a one off additional award of £1,100. Theextra grant came about because of a remaining balance in the CityBridge Trust budget for the year which needed to be awarded by theend of this tax year.

Parkside Community Project is a project of the PCC of St Paul"sChurch in Wimbledon. Based in the local community centre nearSouthfields, the project provides a range of activities for allages, but chiefly for older people.

The £15,000 grant will be given over three years for a programmeof activities to support the physical and mental health of isolatedand/or housebound older people.

John Booth, Treasurer, Parkside Community Project, said:"To be awarded the full grant is excellent news but to be giventhe extra amount is a huge bonus for us. It is wonderful that thehard work of our charity and particularly our volunteers has beenrecognised and appreciated by the City Bridge Trust."The City Bridge Trust is the charity funded from ancient tollsover London Bridge. Astute financial administration of the bridgemany centuries ago by medieval monks has enabled the latter dayCity Bridge Trust to make over 5,800 grants totalling more than£230 million to causes across wider London since 1995 alone.
