Lord Mayor Nick Anstee arrives in Jersey today (Tuesday, 20 July2010) before travelling to Guernsey (21 July) as part of a visitdesigned to strengthen financial ties between the City and theChannel Islands.
The Lord Mayor is scheduled to hold discussions with leadinggovernment officials including Jersey's Chief Minister SenatorTerry Le Sueur and Guernsey's Chief Minister Lyndon Trott. He willalso meet with local business groups, key regulators and theChannel Islands Stock Exchange (CISX). The Lord Mayor, who acts as overseas ambassador for the UK-basedfinancial services industry, said:"The City has a well-established working relationship with bothJersey and Guernsey, and I look forward to building on these tiesduring my time here in the Channel Islands. "The Islands are an important conduit for business to and fromLondon, and complement the City's offering in areas includingbanking, wealth management and specialist insurance."As part of the business visit, the Lord Mayor will be joined byChief Commoner Robin Sherlock and Deputy Policy Chairman MarkBoleat, who is also Chairman of Jersey Competition RegulatoryAuthority. |
