The City of London will welcome the Olympic Flame next year inthe run up to the London 2012 Games.
The City of London Corporation is working closely with LOCOG onplanning details of the route which will be confirmed later in theyear. The Flame, which is also scheduled to visit the other 32local authority areas in London, will be carried by Torchbearerswho can be nominated through LOCOG"s website(www.london2012.com/olympictorchrelay). Stuart Fraser, Policy Chairman at the City of LondonCorporation, said:"We are delighted to be welcoming the Olympic Flame to theSquare Mile, the financial and commercial heart of London and theUK. I am sure the Olympic Torch Relay will be a prelude to aterrific Games for all involved." |
